THERINGONMYFINGERSLIPSTOTHEGROUNDAGIFTTOTHEGUTTER

As prompted by the wonderful M (whose blog you should check out for sure) & because I don't think I've done one for the one's I wear now. Here is a ring post, because I basically wear the same rings everyday with one or two exceptions or substitutions when I'm feeling adventurous.

1. Silver Bar
I wanted a plain 2 finger ring for ages about a year or so ago & couldn't find one that wasn't stupidly expensive. So I went to the ring man (the guy who works in a ring shop near me) & we worked on the drawing & he made this for me.

2. Gold 'Obey' Ring
This is sort of an in joke with me & my boyfriend (eugh I hate that word) because I subconsciously become more feminine the longer we're together...which is never very long. & we have long conversations about feminism. Ah how boring do we sound?

3. Big Ass Citrine Ring
This is my newest edition, the result of an alchemy request on etsy. Man I love etsy. I wanted something along the lines of a Billy Bride ring & in something at the beginning of the colour spectrum. This is absolutely perfect & although in some situations (vending machines, looking in my bag) the way it protrudes is a tiny bit debilitating, it's beautiful & that's the most important thing!

4. Knuckle-ish Ring
So he also bought me this ring in Paris from a shop called Metal Pontu's, which is a gorgeous shop. I'd been looking for something for this finger for a while & they had all these lovely copper pieces but none of them were quite right, but I kept trying on this ring. Anyway we left with me feeling frustrated & then the next day he surprised me with it... I love the way it exposes my kind of chubby finger with such an elegant shape, & the contrast with the other 2 rings.

5. Sugar Skull Ring
Can it be a sugar skull if it's not in colour? Eugh, so yes this is actually his ring. Which I stole from him before we were properly together...& after many a thought on which way round to wear it I settled on facing outwards. & he's said I can keep it now as, "Protection"

6. Lapis Ring
I was lucky enough to tag along with my mum to South Korea about...geez 2 years ago? It was an amazing trip, & the people were lovely even though I was a tall, pale ginger person in a small Asian population & basically stuck out like a sore thumb. We spotted this lapis stone in a shop near where we were staying & got it for some ridiculously low price but managed to understand that it originally came from Afghanistan. But it was perfectly cut in the oval & I love that it has this wonderful fracture running down the middle of it, because I have a thing for imperfection. So when we got back to Bristol my mum got the ring man to set it in silver for my 16th(? Maybe 17th) birthday & it's not really left my finger since.

7. Odd Green Ring
Fresh off the coach from London after seeing him again, I was meant to be meeting my friend but she was late. So I wondered up to the book shops on Park Row & bought too many books & then popped into the Silver Shop after having a double take on a multi layered loop ring that I thought might be long enough for the type of ring I wanted. I went in & she proceeded to get out every single remotely long ring she had, but when I saw the stone in this one I fell in love. I've never seen anything this colour before & she wasn't sure what stone it was (something like weirdly decayed Aquamarine) but it was so unusual. So I spent the last £30 I had in the world on it & added it straight to my collection.

What's your favorite piece of jewelry?

  1. Yaaaaay finally! *singing to CeCe Peniston*
damn I love you so much for posting this! Thank you, now I can rest in peace. ;)

Sooo let me check your rings... very interesting combination by the way. the left hand (on the picture) looks kind of architectural with double finger rings and huge mind-blowing crystals.

    But now in detail...
My favourite is definitely the (as I mentioned) mind-blowing, breath-taking kicks-you-right-in-the-ass big huge wonderful citrine ring. When I saw the picture I was thinking about a quartz but yeah it's orange, so it has to be a citrine I guess (need to improve my shiny stone skills).

    ...

how fantastic that each ring has its cute little story. or its big romantic story.

I have to write a second comment later (actually I'm at work...), so this is just ring analysis part I.

    love and fantasy
