Fashion week's are over & it hasn't been a great month or so. For me Givenchy was the only big house that really pulled it out of the bag, but it was owned by the lesser known designers. But to close the show, no less than Kate Moss. It was pretty fucking perfect. This article made me smile about it too & I hope the right Kate gets to wear the McQueen on her wedding day.

I need to refocus this blog away from plotting my mental downfall & random ramblings, so I was thinking of doing one of these 30 Day challenge things floating around tumblr. Maybe not everyday, maybe like 5-10 of them one day a week. I quite like this song one or possibly this one. But I dunno, would you actually be interested in that or are these things just self indulgent?

It's Spring!

One of those days. When you walk around with your ass hanging out all day & hope no one will object, or stare, but they do. When you realise you've lost your headphones but haven't noticed because you've been driving everywhere for over a week. When you walk into the library absent mindedly on your phone & get asked to leave. When you find yourself walking behind a girl with the most gorgeous black suede boots you may have ever seen, & your first instinct is to go & ask her where she got them wears away as you analyze her everygirl fashion & her phone shop clothed boyfriend & decide that it was a flook so you forget about asking her. When you find yourself walking behind your English teacher all the way home but decide it would be too awkward to go & say hello even though you would like to talk to her like a normal person. When you sit in art looking at your notes after telling your teacher you didn't want to do something to do with disintegration & realise all your notes are about a project to do with disintegration, when did you write those? When did you think that? When you want to cry because of this & then can't concentrate in physics because of this. Hello darkness my old friend.

Happy International Women's Day!

These are the two things I think are standing in the way of equality for the sexes (in this country). The first is my contribution to the Global Women's Voices Flickr group where you can upload a picture of you holding a sign saying what you think is the most important thing to overcome in view of feminism. & the second is not Bill Bailey, but the fact that I think we need more men (young especially) to identify that they themselves are key in overcoming sexism.

To go into a little more detail about the first I think the fact that we do not educate the young in our society about feminism & equality is beyond shameful. My female peers do not identify with the middle aged feminists stood outside strip clubs waving banners, nor do they feel like a boyfriend checking their texts or dictating what they wear is wrong. Feminism has only ever come up through my education in English Literature when we talk about the portrayal of women in texts usually written by men. Young women are screwed from every angle, not identifying with militant feminism (which is the only type usually they are exposed too), being discriminated against on a daily basis (lower wages, wolf whistles in the street) & being fed images from the media that they are not good enough. So let's talk about it. Let's make it clear to the young women & MEN in our society that it is not ok to exploit women, discriminate against them, or pressure them into anything, ever. We have come a long way, but it's not far enough.

On a hunt through the blogosphere I came across the wonderful Je suis le noveau style & this post about A.Y Not Dead's latest lookbook. I do vaguely remember coming cross them before, but don't think I made a post or mental note about what they had on offer at the time. This lookbook though is pretty fucking rad. Probably extremely expensive stuff, but at least it provides a few minutes of unadulterated image fun. The rest of the lookbook can be seen here.

An update on the last post is that things started to look up when I smiled my way out of a parking ticket & then realised, when for the 3rd time a man feeling sorry for me had to help me get the petrol cap off at the station; that if this is what I get out of sexism, then I should milk it. I am a feminist, so does that go against what I'm meant to believe in? After the law's just been passed for women's insurance to be raised whilst men's will be lowered (even though the biggest killer of young women is their boyfriends and male friends driving) & so once again the only issue to do with equality that has been brought up in recent times has sided in favour of the sex that already has everything. Plus Julien Assange & his rapey eyes still haven't been brought to justice... Ok. End of rant. Don't want this to become one of *those* blogs.

Not dead?

This is my head at the moment. Lyrics from Motion City Soundtrack. The world around me seems to be bringing up suicide quite a lot at the moment. Seems like a stupid time if any to die though. I mean I've almost finished my A Levels & I've not accomplished anything yet. Anyway on a lighter note is the Charles Anastase & Carven Autumn Winter shows are also in there vying for space. & it's March, yay! So it's nearly my birthday.

Things I hate: posh girls (& guys) who don't understand the concept of personal space, as if their personal space is more important than mine. The fact that each of my subjects feels pointless at the moment as I'm finding it hard to come to terms with physics, I already know what I want to do for my English coursework so I don't feel like I really need to read about 50 other texts & art...art, my teacher has asked me to come in once a fortnight so he can take some credit as I'm the only person in the class getting an A even though I don't have to go to any of the lessons. The government, considering moving to Spain for the lovely Socialists. The fact that ASDA petrol station refused my card even though I have money, so now I have to go to a petrol station where I have to actively talk to someone. My tattoo practically having disintegrated.

Sorry.
What do you hate?
