Repeating the word progressive does not make it so.
Politics is about fair and not fair not popular and unpopular.
Charging horses at kids is not justified in any way shape or form.
Pushing people into space that does not exist is inhuman.
We are angry.
We are justified.
I firmly believe these motherf**** are going medieval on us!
ReplyDeleteThen we are entitled to go medieval on them, no? I think we should find a granny (less to lose) to behead them all! Mwah ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteI was making these exact same arguments today to certain ignorant people I know. It's fucking disgusting and even more so that people seem to think it was right to send in a load of men on huge horses to beat the shit out of what is essentially a group of children. Half of the people there were around 14 years old. I wonder why the news coverage only focuses on the police who were injured, when many more protestors were hurt BY THE POLICE. Bastards.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe David Cameron has the cheek to say the violence was unacceptable. I agree that maybe people were getting too carried away with throwing stuff, but charging and hitting people in a crowd that contains many people under 18 is in no way justified!
ReplyDeleteAlso, do I give a shit about Charles and Camilla? NO!
Exactly!
ReplyDeleteAlmost 200 protesters were taken to hospital & that wasn't reported until today so most of the news broadcasts about it yesterday were about the 8 police injured.
There is a statement on the guardian coverage (http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/blog/2010/dec/10/tuition-fees-protests-charles-camilla-attack-aftermath-live) where someone was hit to the ground with head injuries & so his friend started shouting for a medic, then a policeman next to them fell to the ground, faking an injury & the medic went to his assistance instead. Even though he had full riot gear on & the actual victim was bleeding & suffering a head wound.
Another statement said that nicer police admitted to the crowd that they had been told to scare people to deter them from protesting again, & they didn't agree with that (hence why they were being so nice)
It is clear that people waving black flags, with balaclavas on and metal or padded signs (for pushing against the police) are there to cause trouble. A photographer admitted that these are the people he followed specifically as they set fire to the Christmas tree in Trafalgar square, smashed windows on Oxford street & then paint bombed Charles & Camilla.
I agree, I don't care about them either, but why drive two of the richest people in the country through a crowd of hostile people angry because they don't have enough money to pay for their right to education? Surely that was asking for trouble...& a front page.
You're completely right, driving them through there was just asking for trouble!
ReplyDeleteAnd also, like you said, the police had protective clothing on, so I doubt they were getting any severe injuries from things being thrown at them! The crowd were only acting as a response to the stuff the police was doing! Beating people is not right when they can clearly see they have nothing to protect their heads with. I think probably a very small minority of people who had gone had done so with the intent to hurt anyone, so the police reaction was completely unreasonable!
Whoa, that is horrible. Although I'm not exactly shocked as I've seen similar happen before, I am incredibly disgusted with the way those kids were treated. They were sticking up for their rights, yet the police treated them as if they were dangerous criminals.
